My Latest Art Doll Revealed: Broken Annie!

Broken Annie

Broken Annie

Poor Broken Annie.
Not quite alive and not quite dead, she waits….

She was so excited. Tonight was the Masque. Annie had been looking forward to it since the moment her invitation arrived by post. Immediately after opening the envelope and skimming the note inside, Annie began to envision her dress… her masque.. the night.

The darkness of the sky that evening was almost tangible. The weight of  millions of bright, sparkling stars hanging precariously overhead seemed to be speaking a warning. Alas, no one was listening. No one heard.

The court was full when she arrived, making her entrance even more spectacular. Her red hair aflame around her magnificent masque, she drew their attention in gasps and whispers. She was the one. The beauty. The fire of the room.

Everyone was watching when she was approached by the stranger. The man in the black masque. Every eye was upon them as they danced and twirled throughout the entire evening. No other suitor had a chance. It was just her and him.  The strange man who never took off his dark, sparkling masque.

When the unmasking was called, he was nowhere to be seen, but when the music began again, he was there. Sweeping her into his arms, lifting her into the mass of twirling dancers.

They made room for them. They always made room. There was something about the way he danced. The way he held her. They way their dancing demanded that they were the most important beings in the room.

And they watched.

And watched.

There was never a time when the masque ended. People just slowly drifted away, until the only ones dancing were Annie and the man.

Suddenly , the music began to beat faster. Louder. Their dancing became more intense. Together they moved as one, faster and faster. His arms around her, so strong. So supportive.  She needed him now. His arms supported her, moved her where she needed to be. She was his now. Her body, her soul, moved about the room as a marionette on it’s strings. Supported completely and entirely by him.

And with the finale of the music upon them he spun her. Out and out and around she twirled to the tempo of the fading song, coming to a slow and gradual stop.

Breathless, exhalted, Annie turned around to smile at him.

But he was gone.

And now she waits. No longer Annie, she is Broken. Her soul, her heart, her self… lost. Hanging somewhere between life and death. Supported only by the strings he left her on, she hangs in The Balance.
She searches forever. She will wait, forever.

On to Broken Annie and her details! Now normally, I write long, winded explanations of what my customs have had done. This time I have chosen to keep it short and sweet. Please just take note that there are still some things that are not complete on her. I still need to glue on her scalp because I have decided to change her pulls strings. Also… she is A MARIONETTE! So not pictured is her strings and handler cross :)  Enjoy!

Hair: Vibrant and deep, Broken Annie has hand dyed suri alpaca hair that I rooted myself into a brand new scalp.

Face: All the usual sanding and spraying, then hand painted and blushed to reflect her personality and sadness.  Her nose has been re-carved entirely and she was given nostrils. Carved philtrum and carved lips and chin. More importantly to note, Broken Annie’s mouth has been carved to represent the marionette she has become. On each side of her mouth I have added tiny brass brads/nails for dimension and aesthetics.

Eyes: Hand painted and sparkle in my signature custom ‘sparkle lids’ technique. Luscious, thick eyelashes have been added to her beautiful eyes in a way that is MUCH different than any other Blythe! I hope you enjoy this.

Body: Pure Neemo Flection size Small, Flesh tone

Wardrobe: Everything is hand made. She has super soft faux leather ballet slippers, a singed grey tulle crinoline, and a grey dress that has been carefully and aesthetically singed in a beautiful pattern. On her feet are a pair of carefully chosen black grannie boots from Paradise Dolls. EEE!

Accessories: Broken Annie comes with her very own Masque, also entirely hand constructed by me. It is delicate and beautiful and reflects her personality perfectly. She also has a broken pocket watch that doesn’t seem to want to stop working. So you have to re-set it back to midnight when you want to take pictures! Soo funny. :P The glass on said pocket-watch has been carefully cracked to represent her ‘lostness in time”. I know. That’s not a real word. But it works. Am I right? :P

Pull-strings: She has been given sleep-eyes has GORGEOUS decorative pulls  on black cord with some amazing crystals on the ends :)

So there she is! I hope you love her!!  She will be available for purchase THIS WEEK! I will be posting her in my Etsy shop -see below for link. She will be $850 inc shipping. All information will be posted there and here again, in a fresh new post.  I accept Paypal payments only -which includes other types of payments available through Paypal (credit card, transfers etc..).  I do accept lay-away but she must be paid for within 6 weeks of winning her. Oh, and I should note that she is a Blythe clone. I consider my dolls Art Dolls but I know some people want to know this stuff :) To me, it’s not important. What IS important is my skill and quality of work and that I create high quality dolls :) I am very proud of my work and abilities and I am also proud to say that I make them all from top to bottom! Hair, paint, carving, clothing, accessories.. It’s all done by me. Rarely do I ever purchase items or services from an outside source.

I will be adding more pictures of her as the week progresses both here and on my Facebook page, so stay tuned!

♥♥♥Please note that I am still new at this. Broken Annie is the 4th custom art doll I have ever created. Being handmade she will have slight differences and tiny imperfections. I hope you will view these as part of her personality and accept them as part of creating something unique. I put a lot of love -really!- and attention into my work and strive to create things that are as perfect as possible. Creating these dollies is truly one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. I hope Broken Annie’s new owner loves and cares for her as much as I do. ♥♥♥
